B UDDIES All children in Class Three have a ‘buddy’ in J3.

Homework Reading PLEASE read and share books regularly. Children will bring their reading books home everyday. Aim to renew books as soon as they have been read. PLEASE fill in the reading record if you hear your child read. Reading in school is done, individually, in groups and daily as a whole class exercise.

Spelling and Phonics Children will each have spelling booklet which should be brought to school on a Wednesday. Spellings are based on the phonics (sounds) the children are working on in the classroom. Look, cover, write and check method. High frequency words - 5 phases, decodable and tricky words.

Handwriting Penpals handwriting scheme. Short session Later in year children will learn to join their writing. It is important that most letters are formed at the top with one continuous hand movement.

RE For RE we have a rolling programme, this academic year Class Three will learn about Autumn – Family and Friends Spring – Rules and Choices Summer – Milestones in Family Life

PE Class Three will have regular PE lessons, usually on Mondays and Fridays. PLEASE ensure kit is named and in school everyday. Yeovil College students. Year 2 will enjoy Swimming lessons in the Summer term at Goldenstones with Class 4.

A PPOINTMENTS If you require a quick word in the morning, I will usually be in the classroom getting organised for the school day. However, if you would like to discuss any worries concerning your child’s progress or happiness in school I am always willing to make after school appointments.
