 Use “who” as the subject (at the beginning of the sentence) Example: Who works in the shop everyday?  Check it by replacing the underlined word with a person’s name.

 Use “whom” as the direct object (after the verb) Example: Whom do the customers like best?  Restate sentence in it’s proper order to check it. Do the customers like whom best? (comes after verb as direct object)

 Use “whose” to show ownership. Example: Whose paper is on the floor?  Use whose because you are asking who owns it.
