Volunteer resources manager position is changing Only 16% reported not having seen a change in the position Rapid change seen in skill needed and responsibilities 46% - requires more skills to work with a wider range of volunteers and deal with more complexities. 39% -needs skills to do more duties in the organization in addition to volunteer management. 36% - has more responsibility as the organization is more dependent on volunteers.

Looking to the future, more changes predicted “We need to adapt to changing volunteer populations and commitments--it will require a paradigm shift in the way we view our volunteer model.”

Minnesota is officially in a period of rapid demographic change.

POPULATION GROWTH AGING RACIAL AND ETHNIC DIVERSITY

Our population will grow, but growth will be uneven.

Today, there are approximately 284,000 volunteers age 65+ in Minnesota… 284,000 volunteers age 65 and older * 86hours per person per year * $20per hour $488 million

By 2040, approximately 548,000 volunteers age 65+ in Minnesota… 548,000 volunteers age 65 and older * 86hours per person per year * $20per hour $943 million

One in four residents will be Persons Of Color by 2030.

If we increased volunteerism among Populations Of Color to 38% (the state average), we would have … 158,000 additional volunteers in Minnesota today 283,000 additional volunteers in Minnesota in 2035

Minnesota is a great state for volunteerism! Among the 50 states: 4 th for volunteering (38%) 3 rd for Baby Boomers who volunteer (42%) 2 nd for older adults who volunteer (39%)
