 To be successful: ◦ Applicants must be aware of the fellowship ◦ Applicants must apply by deadline ◦ Applicants must meet all stated requirements ◦ Applicants must put together a cohesive application

 To be successful: ◦ Applicants must be aware of the fellowship opportunities ◦ Applicants must have an idea for the project ◦ Applicants must find a host organization for the project ◦ Applicants must be willing to put in significant time researching, developing, and writing the application

 How to begin ◦ Find your passion ◦ Develop relationships with organizations that work on the issues you are passionate about ◦ Make a short list of organizations that you would like to work for (research the reputation of the organizations) ◦ Approach these organizations and find out if they are willing to host a fellow (this may require educating the org as to requirements)

 Have an idea of the type of project that you are interested in developing  Read over past BC Law student fellowship applications  Collaboratively work with the organization to design a project that fits with the mission (of the organization) and your interests  Kate Devlin Joyce is available to assist in the design, development, and writing of the proposal
