My father lost his sight late in life. I was impressed with how well he did adjusting to his blindness. His hands were too rough and calloused to learn to read braille. So talking books were a God-send for him. He had always loved to read and this provided him with not just something to fill his days, but also to continue with his love of reading. I wanted to support an organization that continued to provide this vital service. WHAT INSPIRES YOU AND WHY?

I was finished with “work”, but there was plenty more left to do. Besides spending more time with my husband and family, traveling and doing genealogy, I see retirement as an opportunity give back to the community. When I was working, I struggled to find the time to volunteer as much as I wanted. So it was a retirement goal to find the time to volunteer. WHEN YOU RETIRED, DID YOU FEEL ‘FINISHED’ ?

WHAT’S YOUR ADVICE FOR BOOMERS WHO ARE ABOUT TO LAUNCH THEIR OWN “SECOND ACT”? You have to find something that you’re passionate about; something that makes it worth getting up in the morning. It may be a career in a new field, a hobby, volunteering, traveling. Whatever it is, it needs to be important to you.
