Monday February 4th 2013 (08.00 to 16.30) Welcome and Introduction Early Warning Score/ICU Outreach Airways/Breathing/Pain Break Circulation – Neurological assessment – Urine Output Temperature – Lunch break Scenarios- putting into practise Break Teamwork & Communication - Quiz Recap & Question Time
Problems encountered The aim was for the course to be interdisciplinary – Nurses attend. Only one doctor so far. I set up a team of dedicated speakers/trainers but some are not always available Particularly difficult to find trainers for the scenarios among this group. Attendees do not complete pre reading so are not as actively involved
Positives Good feedback from attendees High attendance numbers Instigates thought and discussion Those who start off anxious about taking part in scenarios often feel ok afterwards
Future plan Change format to online learning followed by attendance at 3 hour session including scenarios To encourage more active participation by attendees by necessary pre learning requirements Need less trainers per course. May be able to run more frequently
