“ Simple Present ” We use the Simple Present to express an action that repeated usually, always or often. The action can also be a habit, a hobby, or a daily event. Form : Subject + Simple present verb Example : I play tennis She plays tennis.
“ Simple Past ” We use the Simple Past to express an action started and finished at a specific time in the past. Form : Subject + Simple past Example : I saw a movie.
“ Present Continuous ” Use the Present Continuous to express an action that is happening now, at this very moment. Form : Subject + Verb to “ be ”,( is,are,am) + Verb with “ ing ” Example : I ’ m reading a book now
“ Past Continuous ” We use the Past Continuous to indicate that a longer action in the past was interrupted. The interruption is usually a shorter action in the Simple Past. Form : Subject + Verb to “ be ”, (was,were) + Verb with “ ing ” Example : I was watching TV when she called me
“ Present Perfect ” We often use the Present Perfect for past action that affect the present. Form : Subject + have \ has + Past Perfect Example : I think I have met him once before.
“ Past Perfect ” We use the Past Perfect to express the idea that something occurred before another action in the past. Form : Subject + had + Past Perfect Example : You had studied English before you moved to New York.
“ Present Perfect Continuous ” We use the Present Perfect Continuous to show that something started in the past and has continued up until now. "For five minutes," "for two weeks," and "since Tuesday ”. Form : Subject + have \ has + been + Verb with “ ing ”. Example : You have been waiting here for two hours
“ Past Perfect Continuous ” We use the Past Perfect Continuous to show that something started in the past and continued up until another time in the past. From : Subject + had + been + Verb with “ ing ”. Example : You had been waiting there for more than two hours when she finally arrived.
