Generic vs. SHARP portraits of reality
(GENERIC) Royce knew he was qualified to become store manager given his uncanny capacity to “connect” (?) with employees, who also felt Royce was a good leader (?). He also motivated employees (?) well through delivering the 4 I AM s. (?)
(SHARP) Royce “connected” with his blue collar employees by delivering the 4 I AMs in creative ways, such as congratulating Beth for keeping her cool with a rude customer. Members of his facilities maintenance team never missed Royce’s meetings, because they knew they could participate in making decisions & that Royce would carefully listen to their suggestions and follow though on them whenever possible.
(GENERIC) Janine was proud that her virtual team led her company is developing a unisex approach (?) to doing work. Both employee productivity and morale were high (?) and her co-workers had definitely bought into (?) the team’s mission, creating a positive org-human interface (?).
(SHARP) Janine asked her virtual team co- members to write contributions descriptions for themselves to help build jobs around their unique talents & interests. This approach supported the department’s unisex culture which blended male & female work styles in complementary ways (such as discussing important issues from the dual standpoint of both facts and feelings.).
