Workers in factories worked ten to twelve hours a day, six days a week Anyone who complained about poor pay or bad working conditions could be fired
Poor and Unsafe Working Conditions caused many accidents and deaths Factory workers were poorly paid Many families struggled to pay for a place to live and food to eat Children as young as 10 to15 years old worked to help feed their families
Businesses and factories had to hire thousands of workers to run the machines Workers and their families got sick from the unhealthy living conditions around factories Children were often used to try and fix machinery because of their small hands and fingers causing many injuries and sometimes death.
