The Hungry Giant’s Soup Story by Joy Cowley

The giant was hungry.

“Make me some soup, or I’ll hit you with my bommy-knocker,” he said to the people.

The people ran for the soup pot. “The pot’s too small,” they said The people ran for the soup pot. “The pot’s too small,” they said. “We’ll have to make the soup in a bathtub.”

“Hurry. Hurry. ” the giant yelled. “Or you’ll all get my bommy-knocker

Into the tub went some tomatoes.

Then the people made a fire to cook the soup.

“Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!” yelled the giant.

There was no more wood for the fire. “The soup’s stopped cooking,” said the people. “What will we do?”

“We will get some wood,” the children said.

“Here’s some wood!” said the children, and they put the wood on the fire.

Soon the soup was cooked.

“That’s good soup,” said the giant. Yummy!Yummy! Very good! “That’s good soup,” said the giant.

“Now I’ll be on my way,” he said.

“Hey! Where’s my bommy-knocker?”
