Let’s Write About Our Cat’s Name proper nouns When we write a sentence, we use an uppercase letter for the first word and for proper nouns. The uppercase letter that begins this sentence is O. The uppercase letter for the proper noun is M. The sentence ends with a period. Our cat is named Mittens.
