What is Active Directory? Implementation of LDAP Used primarily by Windows based operating systems Provides central authentication services Stores information and settings in a central, organized, accessible database Small to Large Networks Administrators can: Assign policies Deploy Software Apply critical updates

File and Settings Transfer Wizard Creates an archive of the users profile Used to migrate profiles Integrated into Windows XP Does not add computer to Active Directory
