1Peter, #4- Suffering as a Christian  Synopsis of 1Peter thus far: >Persecution is coming. >Christ suffered and so will those who follow Him. >You can overcome through holiness and right conduct. 3:13 - 4:19 is a continuation & completion of these themes.

1Peter, #4- Suffering as a Christian  Specific Preparations for Persecution, 3:12-22 >vv Proper Perspectives: -Who is there to harm you? Prov.16:7 -Even if…you are blessed! Jas.5:11 >vv Proper Provisions: -Sanctify Christ as Lord, Rom.10:9 -Defend Him to those who ask, Matt.10:32 -Keep a good conscience, Acts 23:1 > 20:20 >v.17 Proper Peace: -Do these things, then let God take care of it!

Know that: -if you are reviled by men, you are blessed by God! v.14 -if you suffer as a Christian, you can glorify God! vv.15-16

1Peter, #4- Suffering as a Christian  The Warning, 4:17-18 >Judgment, as used in v.17, denotes severe trial. >Their persecution & trials would in effect be a judgment. >It was then the season for it. Meaning? -If Christians would be saved only when they faithfully endured persecution, -what would be the outcome for those who were never saved ??? v.18
