8 Things God Doesn’t Want God Doesn’t Want Me To Preach

Proper Preparation in the Gospel God doesn’t want me to preach unless I’m properly prepared in the gospel. We must have a high respect for the truth and for the value of a human soul before deciding to teach or preach.

Warnings Against Careless Teaching James 3:1 -- Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

1 Cor. 12:28-29 -- And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?

1 Timothy 1:6-7 Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.

1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Lie, lie, lie, lie.

Expectations of Maturity 1 Corinthians 3:2 -- I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.

Hebrews 5:12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!

Ephesians 4:14-15 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.

Growing In Knowledge 1 Timothy 4:12, 16 -- Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity…. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Ephesians 6:11, 15 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes…. and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

And if you’re not a teacher… Romans 12:3, 6-8 -- …Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought... We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
