Police Vulnerable Sector Check You will need a PVSC for both your Alternative Placement and regular Placements. Begin the process of obtaining a police check by Monday August 17, Do Not Start Any Earlier!!!!! Deadline for receiving PVSC: Friday December 11, 2015.

Observation and Practice Teaching Class Preparing for Placement: Daybook Planning, Binder etc Alternative Placement Professional Week iTeach All sessions scheduled during Observation and Practice Teaching are mandatory. These are just a few examples. More sessions may be added by September.

PROFESSIONAL WEEK A week dedicated to providing teacher candidates with the opportunity to learn more about the Federations, OCT and other professional organizations important to their teaching career. Learn more from Faculty 40 minute toolbox sessions: Communicating with Parents, Supply Teaching, 10 Tips To A Good Interview etc. It is mandatory for students to participate in ALL workshops. Will have a choice of Faculty sessions to choose from. Most classes will not run during this week.

Alternative Placement January 11-February 5, 2016 Practice Teaching Blocks February 8 – 26, 2016 (three weeks) February 29 - April 15, 2016 (six weeks) Will be requesting a placement in both divisions i.e. if you are a P/J student, will be requesting a primary and a junior placement. BUT could receive same placement for all nine weeks. It is crucial that students not go behind the scenes to look for a placement for themselves. PLEASE be patient. PRACTICUM

Students in J/I Division, will be asked to indicate their interest in a high school placement. During term two you will not be required to come to campus for formal classes. You will be invited to attend the Education Fair usually scheduled the end of January. You will be given permission to be absent from your Alternative Placement for this day. PRACTICUM CONT’D

In September you will be able to apply for an International placement. International placements are normally for three weeks. The opportunity to participate is not guaranteed. We will provide students with an information session in September and discuss international options and how to apply. PRACTICUM CONT’D

NEXT STEPS… March 13 will be provided with Board Forms Interest in High School Placement (JI Division only) Psychology J/I students must indicate their teaching subject Interest in Kindergarten (must have taken the Option course this year) Return form to Sandra Minor by Friday April 10, 2015
