Montana Legislature creates Vocational Technical Centers to serve post-secondary technical training for adults 1979 – Billings Vocational Technical Education Building Opens on Central Avenue Montana’s Five Vocational Technical Centers (Missoula, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Billings) 1987 – Montana Legislature hands over governance of VoTechs from Office of Public Instruction (local school districts) to Montana University System 1994 VoTech Merges with Eastern Montana College (Montana State University Billings) HISTORY OF MONTANA TWO-YEAR COLLEGES

1994 – Eastern Montana College becomes Montana State University Billings Billings VoTech is renamed College of Technology and becomes one of the University’s “colleges” (College of Education, College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Allied Health Professions, College of Technology) May 2012 – MUS Regents rebrand and rename all Colleges of Technology October 2012 – City College Day; New Signs Unveiled CITY COLLEGE HISTORY
