IMPORTANT INFORMATION! The Valedictorian and Salutatorian are selected by Shelby County Schools based on 1 st semester grades of the Senior year. Colleges will still look at 2 nd semester grades of the Senior year, and they can change the status of your acceptance letter

HOPE (LOTTERY ) SCHOLARSHIP Entering freshmen must have a Minimum of a 21 ACT (980 SAT), exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests OR Overall minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale (unweighted GPA)

VIRTUAL SCHOOL Earning additional high school credits/ classes not offered at Central Failed classes

CLEARINGHOUSE Students must be cleared in order to play collegiate sports Students must register, pay fee, send SAT/ACT test scores, and transcripts in order to qualify A certain GPA must meet a certain score on ACT/SAT (Sliding Scale)

DIVISIONS I AND II INITIAL-ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS DIVISION II 16 Core Courses 3 years of English. 2 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher). 2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab if offered by high school). 3 years of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science. 2 years of social science. 4 years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language or comparative religion/philosophy). PSAT THE PRELIMINARY SAT/NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFYING TEST (PSAT/NMSQT) All 10 th grade students are required to take the PSAT October 15. There is no cost Standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT ® Gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs Gain access to college and career planning tools. Measures: Critical reading skills Math problem-solving skills Writing skills

SAT/SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST  Tests verbal and math skills in 6 sections  3 hours in length  Multiple choice plus a grid-in section on the math portion  College Board does not recommend a student to take the official SAT until the 2 nd semester of their 11 th grade school year  Does not test grammar or spelling

ACT PLAN 10 th grade students will take the PLAN October 30, free. Helps you prepare for the ACT Includes four multiple-choice tests: English, Math, Reading, and Science. ACT Plan score report will help identify your strengths and areas where you need improvement. ASVAB Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test Skills based test; does not mean that you will join the military Highly recommended that you take the test during your junior or senior year
