History of Tampere Tampere was founded in 1779 Founder was the Swedish King Kustaa III The first people moved to Tampere in fire destroys the center of Tampere Because Tampere was an important industrial city it became a target for many bombings by the Soviet Union during WW II.

Jobs in the past In 1830’s different jobs were for example dyer, tanner, tailor and shoemaker. There were also many factories:  paper factory,  metal industry: they made ships, steam engines, locomotives, paper machines, turbines and bicycles.  textile factory - Tampere was the most important textile city in Finland.

Jobs today Today in Finland there are many different jobs such as doctor, police, teacher, nurse, plumber, builder and many more traditional jobs like this. Tampere´s medical and information technology is very advanced. Also game industry is advanced. By the way, did you know that the Nokia mobile phones are from Finland?

Jobs in the future We think the jobs in the future are more and more advanced than today. Future fields of employment will be in energy and environment, social service, health care, construction, marketing, sales, services, transport, education and the cleaning industry.
