Throughout the country; To combat desertification and erosion more effectively, For conservation and sustainable management of water resources, To provide guidance to long-term decisions and investment programs and for coordination of the efforts carried out by different organizations; National Watershed Management Strategy Document and Combating Desertification National Strategy Document were prepared.

5-year Action Plan for Combating Erosion covering was prepared. Combating erosion works will be conducted in 1,4 million hectares of land.

“Upper Watershed Flood Control Action Plan” covering 2013 – 2017 was prepared. With the aim of combating floods and overflows, works will be done in 25 major river watershed, 227 priority flood watershed, hectares of land overall.

“Dam Watersheds Greenbelt Afforestation Action Plan” covering 2013 – 2017 was prepared. Within the scope of the Plan, works to be conducted in 400 of total 1071 dam and ponds is decided for the next five years.

12 We are building Forests Resilient to Climate Change. “Guidelines for Building Landscapes Resilient to Global Changes in Dry Lands” was prepared.

14 Every year in our country, nearly 100 experts from Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Africa and neighboring countries are trained in combating desertification and erosion. Çabuk Project Within the scope of “Training and Technical Cooperation Project on Combating Desertification, Land Degradation, Drought (DLDD) and Forestry for African Countries” trainings are being held. 30 experts from 16 countries of Turkic Republics, Middle East and Africa were trained in “Meteorology, Sand and Dust Storm, Combating Desertification and Erosion”.

15 Within the scope of ÇABUK-Niger Project Turkey-Niger Friendship Forest was established. Within the scope of his Africa trip, His Excellency Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN visited the friendship forest on 09 January 2013 and planted seedlings.
