What is Student Council?
Actively participate in school wide initiatives Lend their hands to community causes, and see democracy in action Gain responsibility Increased pride in their school Awareness of events at a local and/or global level School officers will be held to high academic and citizenship levels Duties of student Council Officers
President Must be in 5 th grade Runs the Student Council meetings Represents the council at various functions Knows the basic rules for running a meeting Is a great Impala citizen
Vice President Serves in the absence of the President Knows the basic rules of carrying out a meeting Leads the pledge to the flag Is a great Impala citizen
Secretary Keep accurate minutes of the meetings Reports at each meeting the minutes from the previous meeting Keeps attendance of all representatives at teacher meeting Is a great Impala citizen
Historian Acts in the absence of the secretary Keeps newspaper clippings and council photos in an organized notebook Informs Eickenroht about upcoming student events Is a great Impala citizen
Treasurer Keeps a written record of money earned and spent by student council Is a great Impala citizen
Class Representatives Attend student council meetings Bring ideas and suggestions from class members to the meetings Report information back to his/her class and a K-2 classroom Help with the development of projects for the student council and school Helps promote school pride Is a great Impala citizen
Qualifications Must be in at least Grade 3 Must have and maintain a grade average of 75% in each subject Must have and maintain scores of E’s or S’s in conduct in all subjects, and must not have any U's. Must attend meetings and have good communication skills Must have eligibility confirmed by homeroom teacher
