Flags of our Fathers By: Cole Taylor

Background Feb. 23, 1945 Iwo Jima Joseph Rosenthal This is after the battle on the island of Iwo Jima it is the bloodiest battle of WW2

Purpose I think the purpose of this image was to show you the battle it took to get to raise this flag on the island. It shows the things that they had to go through to get there by looking at all the destruction on the ground around them

view If you could have saw more of the area around the image than I think you would see bodies and destroyed men around it and it would have taken away from the main picture of the 6 men. What if you could have saw more of the area around the image?

Size If this image was zoomed in you might only see the hands of the mean in the image and it would have taken away from this picture to the point that it wasn’t about the men. What if this image was focused in more?

Time If this picture was taken a day after the battle it wouldn’t have shown the same image because if you have read the book you would know that this happened at dusk so the next morning the battle ships and people at the beach saw the flag as the sun came up this wouldn’t have had as much meaning to people If this was taken after the battle what would it change?

If you didn’t know any background info about this image what would you think If you didn’t know what this was about you would probably think that it is just another picture of a flag raising but it is more than that it shows the fight that they had to go through the fight that this men had the courage

Ethos This images ethos is showing our culture because with out these men we who fight for us we wouldn’t have the culture that we have.

Pathos This image makes me feel great compassion toward the people that fight for us like the men in this picture What feeling does this picture evoke to you?

Logos This is a credible source because this is a picture of a battle in WW2 Do you think that this is a credible source?
