Heath & Sports Challenge By Elise & Reese

Skeletal System The parts of the skeletal system are tendons, ligaments, and the cartilage. The bones provide support, movement, protect vital organs, and produce blood cells and bone marrow. Bones are made of calcium Axial bones keep you up right and Appendicular bones help you move. Joints connect bones to let you bend and move. Tendons connect your muscles to your bones so they can pull on them to let you move your arm. With out the skeletal system you would not be able to move.

Muscular System The macular system includes smooth, cardiac, and skeletal muscles. Smooth muscles work with out you telling them to. Smooth muscles are found inside hollow organs. They sit between outer covering and inner lining. Cardiac muscles also work without you trying like your heart, it beats to pump blood without you trying. Skeletal muscles work when you tell them to. Like the muscles in your arm they work when and how you tell them to. Without muscles you wouldn’t be able to move.

Digestive System The parts of the digestive system are the mouth, esophagus, liver, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and the anus. The mouth chews and crushes food. The esophagus brings the food the the stomach where it gets mixed with stomach acid. Next the small intestine absorbs the nutrients into the bloodstream. Last of all the large intestine absorbs the water and the leftovers gets eliminated out the rectum.

Immune System The parts of the immune system are lymphocytes and phagocytes. The lymphocytes are white blood cells and they remember and recognize germs to destroy them. Phagocytes eat up the germs to make sure they can’t do any damage to the body. Without these things you would get sick very easily and not get better.

Circular System The parts of the circular system are the heart and blood vessels including arteries, veins, and capillaries. Your heart pumps your oxygen and nutrients filled blood through out your body where you need it and back again. This system brings oxygen to where you need it when you need it. While playing most sports you need to run or move a lot. without this system you wouldn’t be able to because it carries the oxygen your muscles need to move and work.

Nervous System The nervous system tells you how something is by sending an electrical signal with the information back to your brain. It can tell you things about what you any of your senses can pick up. Your brain can also send information to tell what is going on in the body. Without this system you wouldn’t be able to tell temperature and you could burn yourself. This system is very important.

Respiratory System The parts of the respiratory system are the trachea, the lungs, and the diaphragm. The diaphragm contracts to breath air into your lungs where it enters little tubes called bronchioles. They bring the oxygen to your blood steam where the oxygen rich blood is pumped throughout your body. Once the oxygen is used your body has to breath the carbon dioxide out. To do this the diaphragm pushed up to help pus the air up and out of the body. Without this system you wouldn’t be able to run or even move because the oxygen is what keeps your body running.

Excretory System The part of the excretory system are the kidneys, the ureters, the bladder and the urethra. The kidneys filter waste and extra water out of the bloodstream which is combined to make urine. The ureters are 2 tubes that bring the urine from each kidney to the bladder. The bladder is a sack that hold pee. The urethra carries the urine out of the body. This system also controls how much water is in the body at a time.

Body Systems Applied to Soccer Without 1 of the systems the whole body would fall apart because each system is linked to another. The respiratory system brings the air into the bloodstream which is part of the circulatory system. Then the air goes to the muscles where it is used as energy. After food gets to the small intestine the nutrients is also absorbed in to the bloodstream where it goes to all the cells and is used as food. When the muscles get the nutrients and oxygen and the brain tells them to move so your can run and kick to play the game. The skeletal system is what the muscles move to play the sport and the the nervous system helps your tell where the people and the ball are so you can run and kick in the right place and direction. This relates to the muscular and skeletal system because it help you know when and where to move. The immune system relates to all the other systems while playing soccer because it protects the whole body from getting sick and from killing the cells of the other systems so they can’t work.
