Bell work for J.E. #1 Create a scoring guide Indent paragraphs, use weekly vocabulary (underlined), spaces/lines Variety of sentence structure Control of plot (create suspense) Correct and consistent point of view Chronological order overall * All 5 gives you a score of 4!! 

Journal Entry #1 You are going to respond in writing to a picture. Be prepared to be creative. Write three paragraphs using at least three weekly words (underline them). You may work within any area of the Freytag Pyramid (plot).

Journal Entry #2 You are going to respond in writing to a picture. Be prepared to be creative. Write three paragraphs using at least three weekly words (underline). You may work within any area of the Freytag Pyramid (plot). Also, use the following verb phrases: have/had discovered, could make, might choose, were making, would promise, did invent, will/would try, can break. (Underline verb phrase!) Use chronological order and include at least one paragraph using spatial order (text structure) and first person point of view.

Part 2 of J.E. #2

Bell work for J.E. #3 We are going to discuss people who have changed or impacted the world. Examples: 15 year old who found early test for pancreatic cancer (60 minutes), Anne Frank’s Diary, people in our own school, community, etc. This will be a student led discussion. I will choose a leader. You have three minutes to do a quick list of people who come to mind: GO!!!!!

If I were in charge of the world I'd cancel oatmeal, Monday mornings, Allergy shots, and also Sara Steinberg. If I were in charge of the world There'd be brighter nights lights, Healthier hamsters, and Basketball baskets forty eight inches lower. If I were in charge of the world You wouldn't have lonely. You wouldn't have clean. You wouldn't have bedtimes. If I were in charge of the world A chocolate sundae with whipped cream and nuts would be a vegetable All 007 movies would be G, And a person who sometimes forgot to brush, And sometimes forgot to flush, Would still be allowed to be In charge of the world. NEW FOCUS: Using descriptive words and phrases that create mind pictures for my reader.
