El Subjuntivo con emociones Exprésate 3: Cap.2.5

La “E” de UWEIRDO The SUBJUNCTIVE is also used after “QUE” when the verb before que expresses an emotion for/about someone or something else. I am happy that I get good grades. It irritates me that I have to clean my room. It surprises me that we have a quiz tomorrow. Verb of emotion (+ or -) + “QUE” + SUBJUNCTIVE

Verbs that express emotions =it makes me sad that =it surprises me that =I like that =I love that =It bothers me that =it frustrates me that =it worries me that =to fear that =I’m sorry that =I’m happy/glad that =it seems good to me that Me pongo triste que… Me sorprende que… Me gusta que… Me encanta que… Me molesta que… Me frustra que… Me preocupa que… Temer que… Yo siento que… Me alegro de que… Me parece bien que…

Regla If one of those verbs is used before QUE, the subjunctive must be used after que because it expresses an emotion. Usually, there are 2 DIFFERENT subjects in the sentence: 1 before que and a different subject after que. If there is no que, there can’t be a subject change and the infinitive is used. Me gusta comer. VS. Me gusta que comas la cena.
