Let's Graph

Introduction Graphing is an important procedure used by scientists to display the data that is collected during a controlled experiment. Line graphs must be constructed correctly to accurately portray the data collected. Many times the wrong construction of a graph detracts from the acceptance of an individuals hypothesis. For example……..

Now Let’s look at the Graph…..

A graph contains five major parts: The title, The independent variable, The dependent variable, The scales for each variable, The legend.

Time (the independent variable) is on the x-axis of the graph Time (the independent variable) is on the x-axis of the graph. Voltage (the dependent variable) is on the y-axis of the graph.

Now It Is your Turn…………

What title would you give the graph? What is the independent variable? Why? What is the dependent variable?

Title of Graph Dependent Variable Independent Variable
