By Robert Munsch Tableaux by Grade 1 Drama Students

One morning Megan’s father asked her to go and feed the pigs on her way to school. “Do not open the gate,” said her father. “Pigs are smarter than you think.” (1JK)

So, Megan went out to the pig pen. The pigs looked at Megan, Megan looked at the pigs. They didn’t do anything. “These are the dumbest animals I’ve ever seen. I bet they wouldn’t do anything if I did open the gate.” So Megan opened the gate just a little bit. The pigs looked at Megan, Megan looked at the pigs. They didn’t do anything. “These are the dumbest animals I’ve ever seen.” And so she opened the gate a little bit more. The pigs looked at Megan, Megan looked at the pigs. They didn’t do anything. (1JK)

Then Megan opened the gate all the way and shouted, “HEY YOU DUMB PIGS!” (1JK)

And the pigs jumped up and ran right over Megan, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, and out the gate.

When Megan got up she couldn’t see the pigs anywhere. “Uh oh,” said Megan. “I’m in bad trouble.” As she walked up to the house to tell her father what had happened she heard a sound. “Oink, oink, oink, oink.” “That doesn’t sound like my father,” said Megan. “That sounds like pigs.” As she looked through the window to the kitchen she saw a pig eating her father’s newspaper, a pig, drinking his coffee, and a pig peeing on his shoe. (1TA)

“Megan!” said her father. “Get these pigs out of here!” (1TA)

So Megan opened the front door to the house. The pigs looked at Megan, Megan looked at the pigs. They didn’t do anything. She opened the door a little more. The pigs looked at Megan, Megan looked at the pigs. They didn’t do anything. Megan opened the door all the way and shouted, “HEY YOU DUMB PIGS!” (1TA)

And the pigs jumped up and ran over Megan, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, and out of the house. (1TA) Megan chased the pigs back into the pig pen, closed the gate and stared at them. “You’re still dumb animals,” she said and set off to school. When she arrived she heard a sound. “OINK, OINK, OINK!”

“That doesn’t sound like my principal. That doesn’t sound like my teacher. That sounds like pigs!” And Megan looked through the principal’s office window and there was a pig drinking the principal’s coffee and a pig eating the principal’s newspaper. (1JH)

The principal shouted, “Megan! Get these pigs out of here!” (1JH)

So Megan opened the front door to the school. The pigs looked at Megan, Megan looked at the pigs. They didn’t do anything. She opened the door a little more. The pigs looked at Megan, Megan looked at the pigs. They didn’t do anything. Megan opened the door all the way and shouted, “HEY YOU DUMB PIGS!”

And the pigs jumped up and ran over Megan, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, WAP, and out the front door of the school. (1JH)

Megan was relieved to finally be rid of all those pigs. She walked to her class. When she arrived she heard a very small sound. “Oink, oink, oink.” “That doesn’t sound like my teacher. That sounds like a pig.” So Megan opened her desk and inside was a tiny baby pig! (1VdC)

Megan’s teacher shouted, “Megan, get that dumb pig out of here!” (1VdC)

“Dumb,” said Megan. “Who ever said that pigs were dumb? Pigs are smart! And I am keeping this one as a pet.” At the end of the day Megan went to wait for the school bus when she heard a sound. “OINK, OINK, OINK!” “That doesn’t sound like my friends. That doesn’t sound like my bus driver. That sounds like pigs!” When Megan stepped onto the bus there was a pig driving the bus and pigs eating the seats. (1VdC)

The bus door slammed, they drove across town, into the barn hard, and straight into the pig pen. Megan got off the bus, closed the gate, and walked into the house. (1VdC)

And from then on, Megan never let out any more animals. Well, at least not any pigs… (1VdC)
