35 L U N D U N I V E R S I T Y Lund University Open Access Policy Resolution (taken by the University Board) In order to maximize the number of open access publications the Board of Lund University strongly recommends that: – Researchers at Lund University, if possible, publish in journals with open access – If no equivalent open access journal is available, researchers choose a journal allowing parallel publishing/deposition of the article – Transfer of copyright be avoided. As a minimum the author's right to parallel publishing must be retained – Lund University work for the transition of scholarly journals to a publishing model, where articles either are made freely available to the reader directly or through parallel publishing

43 L U N D U N I V E R S I T Y In conclusion The new structure with a network of libraries is characterized by a division of responsibilities where – Faculty libraries takes care of the day-to-day library services and due to the close relationships with their community can be involved in other kinds of support to research, teaching & learning – The Lund University Library takes care of the Legal Deposit, special collections etc. – The Library Head Office concentrates on policy making,coordination within the library network, development and operation of digital library services – The Library Head Office in cooperation with the Faculty Libraries develops & provides applications and services for the support for research, teaching & learning The new structure has created a lot of dynamics and has provided a lot of opportunities for forward looking library staff!

44 L U N D U N I V E R S I T Y In conclusion The new structure has made it possible to – Not only make the traditional processes of importing scientific information to the university more up-to-date and cost- efficient – But as well demonstrate that the qualifications of library (and increasingly other) professionals can add significant value to the important processes of dissemination and communicating (”exporting”) the research results produced by the university to teaching & learning processes by facilitating closer cooperation between teachers & librarians to research assessment & decision making by raising awareness in regard to scholarly communication issues in Lund & elsewhere
