7 Steps to being in control

Step 1 - Find out how much money you can get

Step 2- Make your plan

When making your plan think about: What do you need? What do you want? What works just now?

Step 2- Make your plan Think about outcomes…..what do you want your support to help you to do?

How can an outcome be achieved? To achieve an outcome there must be… An input A process An output Step 2- Make your plan

Make the most of your budget Step 2- Make your plan

Make the most of your budget Be creative Step 2- Make your plan

Step 3- Get your plan agreed

What is important to you? What do you want to change or achieve? How will you arrange your support? How will you use your individual budget?

Step 3- Get your plan agreed How will you manage your support? How will you stay in control of your life? What will you do to make this plan happen?

What if the council doesn’t agree to your plan? Your council may not agree to your plan if they feel: You want to spend more than your budget It will not keep you healthy, safe and well Your plan will not help you be in control of your budget

Step 4 – Organise your money

Choose someone to help manage your money Get a Direct Payment and manage your money yourself

Step 4 – Organise your money How do you decide? Are you confident enough yourself? Would you like someone to help you manage your money?
