Introduction This book is about an experiment in the Stanford University. They gave the children some marshmallow, and the adult say to them “I have to leave for 15 minutes. If you don’t eat the marshmallow, I will give you the marshmallow again when I come back.”

In the study, children who were able to delay gratification-in the form of a marshmallow they'd been given to eat-with the promise that they'd be rewarded with an additional marshmallow if they resisted eating the first for 15 minutes were significantly more successful than those who had eaten their marshmallow immediately.

Arthur was Jonathan’s driver Arthur was Jonathan’s driver. He was a person who couldn’t delay gratification, so Jonathan not only talked him about the experiment in the Stanford University but also told a lot of stories to make Arthur change. A period of time later, Arthur did change. He became a man who could delay gratification, and he was a successful businessman, like Jonathan.

My Opinion This is a good book which teaches me some good ways to succeed. I get a lot from reading the book. For example, I know delaying gratification is very important because it’s where the key difference between success and failure lies, not only in hard-work or superior intelligence and talent, but also in the ability to delay gratification. So I know I can’t give in to the temptation easily. From now on, I would like to change myself to be a person who can delay gratification.
