What Is A Nation? Or, what is the difference between a State, a Nation and a Nation State?
State A state is an organized community living under a unified political system, known as the government. States are usually sovereign.
Nation A nation is a community of people who share a common language, culture, ethnicity, descent, or history. In this definition, a nation has no physical borders.
Nation State A “nation state” is a state that obtains its legitimacy from being the sovereign for a nation as a territorial unit. If a “state” is a political and geographic entity and a “nation” is cultural and/or ethnic entity, a “nation state” is where the two concepts overlap.
