Secondary ICT C y f r y n g a u & & M e d i a Teaching “Yn darparu’r cyfle i lwyddo” “Providing the Opportunity to Succeed”

C y f r y n g a u & & M e d i a ICT in context In years 7, 8 and 9 students receive one hour a week of ICT tuition. Students will study a wide variety of topics ranging from robotics and control to digital puppeteering and music composition. In years 10 and 11, students can opt to follow one of two pathways in the department. There is a GCSE ICT pathway and a BTEC Creative Media Production pathway. Both pathways offer students five hours a fortnight of tuition. Our sixth form A Level ICT students receive nine hours a fortnight of tuition. “Yn darparu’r cyfle i lwyddo” “Providing the Opportunity to Succeed”

C y f r y n g a u & & M e d i a Before we start “Yn darparu’r cyfle i lwyddo” “Providing the Opportunity to Succeed” WALT We are learning to … WILF What I’m looking for … TIB This is because … Identify some skills / personal qualities needed to teach ICT. You can identity, and prioritise, three to four skills / personal qualities. It is important to know the diverse range of tasks involved in teaching ICT. Understand the different aspects of lesson planning for ICT. You can produce a lesson plan for, and perhaps deliver, a short ten minute lesson. You will very often have to do this at teaching job interviews. Identify some pedagogical and classroom management techniques. You can incorporate these techniques into your lesson plan. You can apply these techniques to your own classroom practice.

C y f r y n g a u & & M e d i a “Yn darparu’r cyfle i lwyddo” “Providing the Opportunity to Succeed” Task 1  I’m creating a spider diagram to identify the knowledge, skills and personal qualities that are needed to become a successful teacher of secondary ICT.  I’m reading the traffic light task board again.  I’m asking a friend to be a peer teacher.  I’m asking a member of teaching staff for help. I need help!I’m okay!I’m done!  I’m completing the following extension task:  Of the areas you have identified, which do you think you will personally will find the most difficult to develop? Make a list, with reasons. Traffic Light Task Board

C y f r y n g a u & & M e d i a “Yn darparu’r cyfle i lwyddo” “Providing the Opportunity to Succeed” Task 2  I’m comparing spider diagrams with a peer. We are then seeing which particular skills or qualities stand out more than others and are prioritising them.  I’m reading the traffic light task board again.  I’m asking a friend to be a peer teacher.  I’m asking a member of teaching staff for help. I need help!I’m okay!I’m done!  I’m completing the following extension task:  Of the priority areas you have identified, do you think you will find these easy or difficult to develop? Why do you think this? Traffic Light Task Board
