Measures intended to reduce loading to WWTP: Limit or cease the direct importation of polluting matter (e.g. liquid wastes, landfill leachate, sludges, etc.) to the treatment plant Investigate the extent of use and impact of under-sink food waste disintegrators (FWDs) and introduce controls where appropriate Investigate fats/oils/grease concentration in influent and take actions to reduce fats/oils/grease entering the collection system
Supplementary Measures S2. Impose development controls where there is insufficient capacity at waste water treatment plants S3. Initiate investigations into characteristics of treated waste water for parameters not presently required to be monitored under the basic measures S4. Initiate research to verify the results of the risk assessment and to determine the impact of the discharge S5. Use decision making tools in the management of point source discharges
