3 RD JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL OF ANO LIOSIA SCHOOL YEAR: THE BOOK CLUB

What is a book club? A book club is a group of people who meet to take part in the discussion of books. Isaak Chionidis, A4 Antonis Kokavesis, B2 Maria Koukourikou, B2 Panagiotis Karamousketas, B2 Katerina Metaxidou, B3 Stamatina Papakosma, B3 Ourania Pashalidou, B3 Maria Tsiligeridou, B4 Aggeliki-Athina Tzemy, B4 Anna-Maria Smirnov, B4 Katerina Tournoglou, B4 Sotiris Chaideftos, B4 TEACHER: I. Giannopoulou with the help of Ch. Lsspia and V. Fragiadaki Our Book Club!

What is special about our book club? We read books in English and we discuss them in English, too.

What do we do? We read the books at home. We discuss the books in our meetings (whether we like them or not, our favourite characters, our favourite scenes, the meaning of the book etc…) Sometimes, we play out scenes and some of us are good actors! We watch the adaptations of the books into films. We think a lot… and we speak a lot…

The books we read this year…  THE OUTSIDERS by S. E. Hinton, a book written for teenagers.  The writer of “The Outsiders” was 16 years old when she wrote the book. She wanted to write a book about real teenagers and about what was happening at her school.  The story takes place in a small American town in the 1960s and it is about two weeks in the life of a fourteen-year-old boy, Ponyboy.

Jane Eyre JANE EYRE by Charlotte Bronte is a classic romantic novel of the 19 th century. It is a novel of romance and … mystery! Jane Eyre is alone in the world when the story starts but she is a very strong person and she never gives up!

Working on the books… While discussing the books, we kept notes. We used these notes to make colourful POSTERS. We also organised a LITERARY WORKSHOP for the friends of books in our school.

OUR POSTERS
