Introduction Animals are a huge part of our everyday life. We could not live without them. Do you know what different habitats different animals live in? By the end of this quest you will know more about your favorite animal, and the habitats they come from.

Task Each student will pick their favorite animal. They will research that animal and fill out the worksheet for their animal. Next they will move to the habitats. They will learn about 5 different habitats that are on Earth. Ocean, Desert, Grassland, Rainforest, and Tundra They will then fill out the habitat worksheets Worksheet

Process -- Animals 1.Students should choose their favorite animal and begin filling out the Animal Facts worksheet. 2.Go to both of these websites and find out all the information for your animal Animals 1Animals 1 Animals 2 4. Finish filling out the Animal Facts worksheet

Process – Habitat 1 1. Ocean Habitat Go to this website: Ocean Habitat Ocean Habitat Fill out as much of the ocean habitat questions as you can from this website. Next go to this website, pick ocean and answer the last question on ocean habitats: National Geographic National GeographicNational GeographicNational Geographic 2. Desert Habitat: Go to this website first : Desert HabitatDesert Habitat Fill out as much of the desert habitat questions as you can based off this website. Next go back to the national geographic website and answer the last question: National Geographic Now begin the Habitat part of the worksheet

Process – Habitat 2 3. Grassland Habitat Go to this website: Grassland Habitat Grassland Habitat Fill out as much of the grassland habitat questions from this website as you can. Next go back to the national geographic website and pick the grassland habitat and answer the last question. National Geographic National Geographic 4. Rainforest Habitat Go to this website: Rainforest Habitat Fill out as much of the rainforest questions as possible from this website as you can. Next go back to the national geographic website and pick the correct habitat and answer the last question. National Geographic

Process – Habitat 3 5. Tundra Habitat Go to this website: Tundra Habitat Tundra Habitat Fill out as much of the questions on tundra as you are able to based on this website. Next go back to the national geographic website and go to the correct area and answer the last question. National Geographic National GeographicNational GeographicNational Geographic

Levels Criteria Excellent (3)Average (2)Needs Improvement (1) Total Score: Time Management during class. Used time wisely during class, stayed focused the whole time, never distracted classmates during work time. Used time wisely during class, stayed focused most of the time, sometimes was a distraction to classmates during work time. Did not use time wisely during class, rarely stayed focused, or was often a distraction to classmates. Animal Worksheet. All questions were answered thoroughly and correctly. One question was left unanswered, but answers were correct. Two or more questions were left unanswered or some answers were incorrect. Habitat Worksheet.Students did not stop at required amount of examples for each question and answered questions correctly. (When asked for 2 or more, student did more than 2.) Student did exactly the amount asked for in each question, answers were correct. Student did less than was asked for, some questions were left unanswered or some answers were incorrect.

Conclusion Knowing about different habitats and animals is very important. When we know why and how habitats are different we can work on helping out the environment. I hope you enjoyed working on this web quest and enjoyed learning about habitats and your animal. If you want more fun with habitats try these games: Habitat Game or Game Habitat Game or GameHabitat Game Habitat Game

Teacher’s Page This Habitat WebQuest was created to offer teachers and students an exciting new way to learn about habitats and the animals that live their. Having the students pick an animal and research that animal then the habitats makes the task more personal and interesting. This WebQuest works best for students in grades 2 or 3. Through this activity students will be meeting science standards for PA. Objectives, The students will be able to: Tell the difference between habitats Tell in which habitats specific animals live Be able to locate information about their animal on the Internet, using more than one source Be able to organize the information gathered on the internet, in document provided Develop understanding of how to link websites through the internet By: Helena Hewitt and Lauren Malloy
