Parachute Terminal Velocity

1.Set up the motion detector on the floor 2.Turn on the CBL 3.Select apps 4.Select Easy Data 5.Distance vs. Time should appear 6.One person presses start 7.2 nd person holds parachutist by the folds, two meters above the sensor and listens for clicks 8.Drop parachutist above the screen of the motion detector 9.Press stop as soon as the parachutist lands

Analyze 1.Press analyze 2.Press select region 3.Use cursor to select the area of freefall using the arrow button (left and right boundaries) 4.With new graph select the X1 and Y1 values at the top of the slope and the X2 and Y2 values at the bottom. Write these values down 5.Calculate the slope (Y2-Y1/X2-X1) This is your terminal velocity in m/s. Be ready to compare to class results.
