I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e 14 VISION Logistics modeling and simulation capabilities that enable the United States Air Force to organize, train, educate, equip, and employ current and future air, space, and cyberspace forces for the Joint Warfighter to fly, fight, and win across the full range of operations. MISSION The mission of this IPT is to assess and monitor the logistics M&S environment, identify gaps in capabilities, leverage best practices, and recommend M&S continuous improvements to fulfill current and future requirements. This enables the standardization of enterprise-wide M&S capabilities, creating a prioritized roadmap for both warfighting and business systems, while leveraging DoD, Coalition, Interagency and Air Force M&S initiatives. Logistics Modeling & Simulation Vision and Mission

I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e 15 Goal 1: Identify opportunities for logistics M&S to meet enterprise needs Objective 1.1 – Identify the current capabilities of logistics M&S within the 5 sub-IPTs (Functional Area Analysis) Objective 1.2 – Identify the capability deficiencies (Functional Needs Assessment) Objective 1.3 – Identify the targeted capability (Functional Solutions Assessment) Objective 1.4 – Identify best of breed solutions Objective 1.5 – Complete the feedback loop with agency/organization that identified the deficiency Goal 2: Leverage logistics modeling and simulation capabilities to increase effectiveness and reduce cost Objective 2.1 – Improved warfighting capability within the functional areas (5 sub- IPTs) Objective 2.2 – Improved business management effectiveness within the functional areas (5 sub-IPTs) Objective 2.3 – Prioritized M&S needs by functional area capability (e.g. 5 sub-IPTs) and by mission criticality Objective 2.4 – Identify areas for re-use within the Air Force and /or Other Services Logistics Modeling & Simulation Goals and Objectives

I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e 16 Goal 3: Provide increased M&S expertise and understanding Objective 3.1 – Educate Air Force personnel in logistics M&S capabilities Objective 3.2 – Build M&S expertise within the logistics community Objective 3.3 – Develop and maintain a continuous education program Goal 4: Provide persistent visibility into the logistics M&S landscape Objective 4.1 – Establish business processes to support and facilitate maintaining persistent visibility of M&S data Objective 4.2 – Establish and maintain a logistics M&S Community of Practice (COP) Objective 4.3 – Update and maintain an authoritative database of the current M&S landscape Goal 5: Provide an enterprise-wide framework for the management of logistics M&S Objective 5.1 – Conduct oversight, resource advocacy, and awareness of M&S contributions Objective 5.2 – Establish simulation connectivity standards and foster re-use and interoperability to include database, software, graphics, and visualization Objective 5.3 – Establish policy and guidance in coordination with AFAMS for updating and maintaining the data in an authoritative logistics M&S database Objective 5.4 – Integrate logistics M&S into policy and guidance (e.g. Air Force Publications) Logistics Modeling & Simulation Goals and Objectives (cont)
