Research existing cosmetic and lip gloss products and packing designs available on the market. Use the information gathered to design a unique visually appealing packaging design for a new lip gloss. This product will be the first item to be launched in a new range of cosmetics available in supermarkets, and low cost retailers. Proble m Glamour Cosmetics Ltd has asked your team of market researchers and graphic designers to come up with a new product logo and packaging design for a lip gloss. The lip gloss will be part of a new range of cosmetics to be launched at supermarkets across asia/pacific. AIM: Your client would like this new lip gloss to be the next essential cosmetic item. Lip Gloss Packing Design Situation Lip gloss must appeal to the target market, year olds. Packaging should stand on a supermarket self unaided. The design must be visually appealing to grab peoples attention. The container must hold 15grams of gloss. Glamour Cosmetics would like the product to retail for between $7-$9. Specifications Requirements Packaging Design Research: Research and record relevant existing packaging designs from 3 different supermarket products. Annotate around these in your visual diary. Why are they appealing/not appealing to you? Do you think the packaging is effective/ineffective in selling the product? (1x A4 visual diary). Lip Gloss Research: Research and record 2 different existing packaging designs of lip gloss. Annotate around these in your visual diary. What aspects of the design appeals/not appeals to you? Elaborate on aspects of the design you may use/or not use and for what reason. (1x A4 visual diary). Market Research: Interview 5 people on their views of the best lip gloss currently available on the market. Questions should be directed around the packaging design, shape and size of container. This research should influence your design. (1x A4 visual diary). Logo Design: Decide on a name for your lip gloss and create a logo for your product. Come up with 2 concept ideas for the logo. These should be free hand sketchers. Font books may be referred to for ideas but font should be your own design. (1x A4 visual diary). Packaging: Brainstorming ideas in visual diary, what you would like your packaging design to include i.e. style of packaging, container size and shape, wand, tub, tube, samples of paper/ideas, cuttings found, photocopies, colour to be used. (1x A4 visual diary). Preliminary Packaging Design: At least 3 concept drawings, these should be quick sketches incorporating all your ideas from your brainstorming. This may include colours, rendering, pictures, etc. (2x A4 visual diary). Final Drawings: For your packaging design. Rendering should be used to create the final packaging design. Orthographic & Isometric: Technical drawings of your packaging design. Should include scale. (1xA3) Construction Drawing: For packaging design. Produce actual size drawing used for packaging design construction. (1xA3) Final Packaging: To be constructed at actual size. Should include all design features of product. (1x packaging)
