EDEXCEL LEVEL 2 BTEC FIRST DIPLOMA FOR ICT PRACTITIONERS Unit 13: Software Installation and Upgrade

UNIT DESCRIPTION This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to install, upgrade and test computer software. You’ll be taught what to check before installing new software, or upgrading old software.

UNIT DESCRIPTION You’ll be taught the different methods of loading software onto a computer.

UNIT DESCRIPTION After successfully installing the software you’ll need to check it works properly. And register the new software. 4

UNIT DESCRIPTION The original software media will need to be stored properly. So you’ll learn how to complete a software installation or upgrade, including preparing for the installation, actually installing the software and completing the required tasks following the installation. 5

LEARNING OUTCOMES On completion of this unit a learner should: Understand software installation and upgrade processes Be able to prepare for an installation or upgrade Be able to install and upgrade software Be able to complete an installation or upgrade.
