Podcast Podcast is a series of digital media files (audio or video) distribute by an automatic subscription system (RSS). The term Podcast comes from the words “iPod” and “broadcast”. Currently, there are three types of podcasts: 1. A basic podcast contains only audio and is the easiest to create and listen to. 2. A podcast with audio and slides (like a narrated PowerPoint presentation on the Web). 3. A vodcast (or video podcast) contains video and audio and is the most difficult to create and view.

History Podcasting started in August 13 th 2004 by Adam Curry. Adam added audio files to a RSS file and created a program that manage these files. The program was called iPodder. In December 3, "Podcast" was named the word of the year in 2005 by the New Oxford American Dictionary and would be in the dictionary in 2006.
