ADS1115 Family – World’s Smallest 16 Bit ADCs Device features RUG package: 2.0 x 1.5 x 0.4mm Data rate: 8 to 860 SPS Supply current: 150µA (typ) Supply voltage: 2.0V to5.5V On-chip integration: Oscillator and low drift reference PGA (x2/3, x1, x2, x4, x8, x16) (ADS1115 and ADS1114 only) Comparator (ADS1115 and ADS1114 only) 4-channel input MUX (ADS1115 only) Offset voltage: 100μV Extended temperature range: -40C to +125C Benefits 70% smaller package than nearest competition reduces system size Product family options for scalable integration and reduced component count 14x faster sampling rate supports demanding measurement requirements Integrated programmable comparator simplifies system monitoring Performance upgrade for embedded ADCs $2.00 / 1K Key Applications medical instrumentation smart transmitters consumer goods battery monitoring portable instrumentation industrial process control Additionally, the ADS1114 and ADS1115 versions offer an onboard PGA with gain options between 0.33 and 8 as well as a programmable comparator for easy alert or level detection. EVM ADS1115EVM

ADS1115 Family – World’s Smallest 16 Bit ADCs Device features RUG package: 2.0 x 1.5 x 0.4mm Data rate: 8 to 860 SPS Supply current: 150µA (typ) Supply voltage: 2.0V to5.5V On-chip integration: Oscillator and low drift reference PGA (x2/3, x1, x2, x4, x8, x16) (ADS1115 and ADS1114 only) Comparator (ADS1115 and ADS1114 only) 4-channel input MUX (ADS1115 only) Offset voltage: 100μV Extended temperature range: -40C to +125C Benefits 70% smaller package than nearest competition reduces system size Product family options for scalable integration and reduced component count 14x faster sampling rate supports demanding measurement requirements Integrated programmable comparator simplifies system monitoring Performance upgrade for embedded ADCs $2.25 / 1K Key Applications medical instrumentation smart transmitters consumer goods battery monitoring portable instrumentation industrial process control Finally, the ADS1115 builds upon the core even further to include an input multiplexer that provides two differential or four single-ended inputs ideal for multi-channel applications. Designed for precision, power efficiency, and ease of implementation, the ADS1115 family performs conversions at programmable data rates between 8SPS to 860SPS consuming just 150uA (typ) of supply current at 2V. EVM ADS1115EVM

ADS1115 Family – Conversion Modes Further enabling extreme low power solutions, the ADS1115 family offers two conversion modes: Single Shot mode and Continuous conversion mode. In single-shot mode, the ADC automatically powers down to less than 2 uA supply current after a conversion, greatly reducing current consumption during idle periods. In continuous conversion mode, the ADC automatically converts an input signal whenever the previous conversion is completed. Data con be read at any time and always reflects the most recent completed conversion. Continuous Conversion Mode: Automatically converts input signal when previous conversion is complete. Data can be read at any time and reflects most recent conversion Single Shot Mode: Performs one conversion of input signal, stores in register and automatically enters low-power standby state

ADS1115 Family Scalable Integration and Resolution Options Also releasing in this family are 12-bit versions (ADS1013, ADS1014, and ADS1015) making this a complete scalable family of ultra-tiny, low cost ADCs.

ADS1115 Family Applications Battery Monitoring Portable Instrumentation Industrial Process Control Smart Transmitters The ADS1115 family ADC’s are easy to configure and design into a wide variety of applications where cost, space and power consumption are major considerations. Battery monitoring will be one key application, but it will also find homes in other areas such as portable instrumentation, industrial process control and smart transmitters. It can also be a higher performance and better characterized alternative to embedded ADC’s. If the application requires a low cost, low speed ADC, the ADS1115 family should get the first look. And Many More…
