For Bone Health and More… NEW With 1000 IU Vitamin D3 For Bone Health and More… One of the most common and growing health concerns, especially as the population ages, is preventing osteoporosis and the risk of bone fractures. A growing body of scientific evidence points to the importance of a dietary abundance of the key nutrients Calcium, Magnesium, and Vitamin D in life-long bone health. GNLD’s Amino Acid Chelated Cal-Mag with 1000IU Vitamin D is a great solution for bone health and much more. CHELATED CAL-MAG Amino Acid Chelated Calcium and Magnesium with High-Potency Vitamin D3

Bone Health Status in the U.S. Healthy, strong bones Osteoporotic bones “By 2020, half of all Americans aged 50 years or older will be at risk for fractures from osteoporosis or low bone mass.” Let’s look at some facts: By 2020, one in two Americans aged 50 years or older will be at risk for fractures from osteoporosis or low bone mass. An estimated 10 million Americans over age 50 have osteoporosis (the most common bone disease), while another 34 million are at risk. Each year an estimated 1.5 million people suffer an osteoporotic-related fracture, an event that often leads to a downward spiral in physical and mental health. In fact, 20 percent of senior citizens who suffer a hip fracture die within 1 year. One out of every two women over 50 will have an osteoporosis-related fracture in their lifetime, with risk of fracture increasing with age. Due primarily to the aging of the population and the previous lack of focus on bone health, the number of hip fractures in the United States could double or even triple by the year 2020. An abundance of the right nutrients to maintain bone health will help you keep your bones healthy and strong. Most Americans do not get the recommended amounts of Calcium or Vitamin D from diet alone. Osteoporosis and Low Bone Mass Incidence of Osteoporosis and Low Bone Mass in the U.S. Changes in Bone mass with Age Myth: Osteoporosis is only a problem for older White women. FACT: One of the most dangerous myths about osteoporosis is that only women need to worry about bone health. Osteoporosis affects men and women of all races. While bone weakness is manifested in older Americans, strong bones begin in childhood. Americans of all ages must take steps to protect their bone health. MYTH: Osteoporosis cannot be prevented. FACT: Individuals can do a lot to promote their bone health, beginning in childhood and continuing into old age. With proper nutrition, physical activity and medical attention, Americans can have strong bones and live longer, healthier lives. Adequate calcium and vitamin D as part of a healthy diet, along with physical activity, may reduce the risk of osteoporosis in later life.* MYTH: Only a small segment of the population suffers from osteoporosis or other bone diseases. FACT: Osteoporosis is a silent condition that affects millions of Americans. Ten million Americans over age 50 have osteoporosis, the most common bone disease. Another 34 million Americans have low bone mass. If we do not take immediate action, by 2020, half of all Americans over age 50 will have weak bones from osteoporosis and low bone mass. *Projected Source: Bone Health and Osteoporosis: A Report of the Surgeon General. The Solution Exercise Health awareness A healthy diet When it comes to maintaining strong, healthy bones, research confirms the importance of: Exercise Health awareness A healthy diet, and meeting your daily recommended intakes of calcium, magnesium and vitamin D. Let’s take a closer look at these 3 powerful nutrients…

Key Nutrients for Bone Health Calcium is critical for development and maintenance of bones and teeth. Magnesium helps keep your bones strong Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption The importance of calcium, magnesium and vitamin D to bone health can not be overstated. Calcium is critical for development and maintenance of bones and teeth. Research shows that abundant calcium intake throughout life can postpone or prevent the onset of osteoporosis. Sadly, a large percentage of Americans fail to meet the current recommended guidelines for optimal calcium intake. If supplies are inadequate, the body will leach needed calcium from the bones…a process that can lead to osteoporosis. Magnesium helps keep your bones strong Current research shows, in addition to its role in bone health, magnesium is critical to key body functions. Half the population of the industrialized countries has a magnesium deficit, which increases with aging. (Source: Guosong Liu, et al. Enhancement of Learning and Memory by Elevating Brain Magnesium. Neuron, Volume 65, Issue 2, 165-177, 28 January 2010. 10.1016/j.neuron.2009.12.026) Magnesium deficiency may be a risk factor for osteoporosis and can negatively affect calcium metabolism and regulation in the body. Current studies suggest that magnesium may improve BMD. Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption The body needs vitamin D in order to absorb and utilize calcium from the diet. Despite the health potential of vitamin D, as many as half of all adults and children are said to have less than optimum levels and as many as 10 percent of children are highly deficient. (Source:Looker AC, et al. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D status of the US population: 1988-1994 compared with 2000-2004. Am J Clin Nutr. 2008 Dec;88(6):1519-27. It is essential for promoting calcium absorption in the body and for maintaining adequate calcium and phosphate concentrations in the blood to enable normal bone mineralization and growth. Vitamin D prevents rickets in children, osteomalacia in adults and, together with calcium, osteoporosis in older adults. It would take a quart of milk a day to get the recommended dose of vitamin D your body needs.

Calcium For Bone Health & More Supports Cardio & Neuromuscular Function Essential for proper: Cardiovascular function Muscle contraction and relaxation Transmission of nerve impulses Secretion and activation of hormones/enzymes . The most abundant mineral in the body, calcium is critical for the development and maintenance of strong bones and teeth. In fact, 95% of the body’s calcium is present in the bones and teeth, to which it gives strength and structure. In addition to its role in bone health, calcium is essential for normal muscle contraction and relaxation, regulation of the heart beat, transmission of nerve impulses, blood clotting, secretion of hormones, and the activation of a number of enzymes, including lipase, the enzyme that helps break down dietary fats. Calcium deficiency usually occurs for those with diets lacking in dairy products or green leafy vegetables. The older you get, the harder it is to absorb calcium.

Magnesium For Bone Health & More Maintains healthy heart and immune function Promotes normal blood pressure Essential for healthy muscle and nerve function Supports energy metabolism and protein synthesis Like calcium, magnesium also plays many other important roles in the body. In fact, magnesium has been found to have an important function in more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong. Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis. There is an increased interest in the role of magnesium in preventing and managing disorders such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Magnesium deficiency typically occurs in those with diets lacking in whole grains, leafy green vegetables, nuts, legumes, fish or meat. Essential for over 300 biochemical reactions in the body

Vitamin D3 For Bone Health & More Low levels linked to heart disease, autoimmune disease, cancer, depression and osteoporosis. Essential for proper neuromuscular and immune function. Need 5 – 30 minutes of direct sun exposure of face, arms, back and legs without sunscreen. And now, vitamin D… Current research has indicated vitamin D deficiency as a major factor in the pathology of at least 17 varieties of cancer as well as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, muscle wasting, birth defects, periodontal disease, and more. Simply stated, vitamin D is critical to the achievement and maintenance of good health. In addition, research is now showing that vitamin D plays other roles vital to our health including the support of proper neuromuscular and immune function and the modulation of gene-encoding proteins that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and cell death. Vitamin D also plays an important role in the reduction of inflammation. Studies now suggest that vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is more than three times as effective as vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) in raising blood Vitamin D levels and maintaining those levels for a longer time.. People most at risk for vitamin D deficiency are older, have diabetes or kidney disease, stay indoors or have darker skin. African-American teenagers are at particularly high risk, possibly because in addition to their dark skin, they are less likely at that age to drink milk or play outside. As people age, the amount of Vitamin D made in the skin after sunlight exposure declines.

Calcium, Magnesium and D3: Why you need all 3 Many studies show that calcium can only be beneficial with an adequate intake of vitamin D. All three of these nutrients are needed for optimal bone health. Adequate calcium and vitamin D as part of a healthy diet, along with physical activity, may reduce the risk of osteoporosis in later life.* Calcium and magnesium, necessary for strong bones and teeth, are also critical for cardiovascular health, nerve and muscle function and many enzyme reactions.* Vitamin D supports breast, bone, heart and immune health.* For example, in a recent meta-analysis of seven major randomized trials of vitamin D which evaluated the role vitamin D in reducing the risk of fractures, the groups that took vitamin D in combination with calcium experienced a lower risk of fractures than the groups supplemented with vitamin D alone, irrespective of age, sex, or previous fractures. Proprietary Double Amino Acid Chelation The GNLD Difference Proprietary Double Amino Acid Chelation CALCIUM Gly- Significantly increases absorption of minerals Less irritating to stomach and intestines Rapid disintegration, dissolution and dispersion Because the body absorbs only a small portion of the minerals we eat, Dr. Arthur Furst pioneered a unique double amino acid chelation technology to significantly increase the absorption rate of minerals in GNLD supplements. The technology involves essentially shielding the positively-charged mineral with the use of negatively charged amino acids (the building blocks of proteins). The now neutralized mineral is not attracted by the negatively charged ions in the intestine and along the intestinal wall, and is thus better able to disperse and pass through the intestinal wall and into the blood stream. Pioneered by Dr. Arthur Furst, this double amino acid chelation technology is designed to enhance mineral absorption.
