1940 Korea split in 1940 after WW2. -Before it was a Japanese colony for 35 years. -When it was divided North Korea was communist but south was not.

1950 The Korean War was started in North Korea invaded South Korea in North Korean leader Kin Ell Sung wanted Korea to be one country that is communist.

1950 Korea got help from the UN in The US president Harry Truman got help from the UN. Then the UN army came to South Korea in few months. That time North Korea had almost taken over parts of South Korea.

September The UN made a mistake in The UN first pushed North Korea in to the 38 th parallel then pushed them over to the Chinese border. -But it was the wrong thing to do, China another communist country thought it was a threat to their security and sent thousands of solders and took over parts of South Korea.

1953 The war ended in The war ended in 1953 when the new president Eisenhower made a deal with North Korea and China. - And North and South Korea came back almost like before in the 38 th Parallel. After the war north was guarding North Korea and the south was guarded by South Korea at the D.M.Z (Demilitarized Zone). The war ended in a peace treaty.

During the war and a lot of people were affected. - A lot of people got affected, even kids because lots of people died and lost their family members. At least 2 million people died in the Korean War.
