Otakar Německý  March 2, 1902 – March 18, 1967  promoter and founder of skiing in Nové Město  won 2 gold and 1 silver medals at World Championships in 1925 and 1927

Jan Štursa  May 15, May 2, 1925  world wide recognized Czech sculptor  Born in Nové Město na Moravě  Most famous works: “The Wounded” and “Burial in the Carpathians”

Jan Karafiát  January 4, January 31, 1929  born in Jimramov  author of classic children's book “Broučci” – one of the classical Czech fairy tales  also wrote a lot of other books, most of them about religion and education

Cyril Musil  November 23, 1907 – April 17, 1977  silver medal in the 4 x 10 km relay at World Championship in 1933  WW2 – resistance against Nazi occupation  punished by the communist regime  died in Canada under mysterious circumstances

Jan Syrový  January 24, 1888 – October 17, 1970  Born in Třebíč  Commander of the Legions  Chief of Staff and Prime Minister  after WW2, sentenced to 20 years for collaboration
