Lenape Regional HS District OPTION 2 PROGRAM

OPTION TWO PROGRAMS 1. College Courses 2. Internet Courses 3. Work/Internship 4. Community Service 5. Proof of Proficiency a) Credit for courses completed prior to grade 9 6. Summer School for Original Credit 7. Tutoring for Original Credit 8. Independent Study

College Courses 1. Grades Request to Counselor made by June 1 st. 3. Will not count in GPA (however students can sit for Proficiency Test at completion of course). 4. In general, 5 credits will be earned for completing 2 college courses. 5. Credits to determine grade level promotion must be received by August 1 st. 6. Students/parents responsible for tuition/transportation. 7. Students may be permitted an early release from the school day.

Internet Courses General Internet Course 1. Grades Request to counselor by June 1 st. 3. Institution must be accredited. 4. Guided learning (tests, projects, etc). 5. Full year course = 5 credits 6. 5 Internet credits maximum per year 7. If course is not in LRHSD Program of Studies – will not count in GPA Equivalent to Prog. of Studies 1. Items 1-6 from left apply. 2. Student must have passed the GEPA in content area of Internet course. 3. District assessment taken upon completion. 4. Will count towards GPA. For example: Thomson Education Direct – CompuHigh – Florida Virtual School –

Work/Internship (not intended to replace our present co-op programs) 1. Grades 11 and 12 only. 2. Request to Counselor made by June 1 st. 3. Student/Parent must find placement hours = 5 credits 5. Summer hours count. 6. Pass/Fail – will not count in GPA. 7. Weekly log signed by site supervisor and quarterly by School Counselor. 8. Working papers must be obtained. 9. Must be paid at least minimum wage. 10. Students may be permitted an early release from the school day.

Community Service 1. Grades Request to Counselor made by June 1 st. 3. Student/Parent must find project hours = 5 credits 5. Pass/Fail – will not count in GPA. 6. Reflective journal and weekly log signed by site supervisor and quarterly by School Counselor 7. Students may participate every year but will only receive credit for 2 projects for a maximum of 10 credits. 8. Students may not receive wages for participation. 9. Students may be permitted an early release from the school day.

Proof of Proficiency 1. Grades 9 – Written request from parent by 6/1 3. Must have passed the GEPA 4. Complete assessment by July Must earn 80+ to pass 6. May only sit for the test once 7. Course Title and A or B will show on transcript 8. Does count in GPA
