Pre-Electric Station Operator Station Design Concepts
Introduction Station design is not arbitrary Factors considered are –Cost –Reliability –Flexibility –Redundancy –Location (Physical Space Availability)
THE PURPOSE OF EVERY STATION DESIGN IS TO PROVIDE THE CUSTOMER WITH POWER.
Redundancy The INTENTIONAL DUPLICATION of a circuit or equipment. Provides for greater Reliability. Increases the Flexibility. Increases the Cost.
This is a “Single Bus Single Breaker” configuration. We are looking at the number Busses and the number of circuits associated with each circuit breaker Circuit
This is a “Double Bus Single Breaker” configuration Two busses and single circuit per circuit breaker Bus Circuits Notice that this configuration has a “Bus Tie” it’s used to connect the two busses
This is a “Double Bus Double Breaker” Two busses and two breakers per circuit Circuit breaker Circuit
Two circuits share the center circuit breaker or half the breaker This is a “Double Bus Double Breaker and a Half” configuration Ciruit Two circuits share this breaker
