NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS) - legacy Mission: Timely delivery of critical weather information Description: NWWS is a satellite data collection and redistribution system operated by the National Weather Service (NWS). NWWS singular purpose is to provide timely meteorological, hydrological, climatological, and geophysical information to state and federal governments, emergency managers, commercial users, media outlets (television, radio, social), and the general public. Planned NWWS configuration NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS) 2014-2015 NWWS will be adding to the dissemination streams starting this Fall. The NWWS will operate similar to the current contractor leased system, with dissemination of weather data via: C-band satellite (SBN/NOAAPORT Channels 101-105 and Channel 201 for dedicated NWWS only products) an Internet-based method known as the "Open Interface," UNDER DEVELOPMENT the International Justice and Public Safety Network (Nlets), UNDER DEVELOPMENT NOTE: The “Nlets” system has a private data stream for law enforcement/emergency management networks not open to the general public.
