Located in Rancho Bernardo, General Atomics works as a general contract company that has contracts with the Military (DOD, Navy, etc.), Medical Research companies, and lastly they work with Radiology companies that produce nuclear reactors.
My Work as an Intern: How my work was significant Helped my mentor organize Helped with overview of the designs Learned how to use Excel to Solve problems
How did my project(s) go from an idea or inspiration to a final product? (Step by Step on next slide) Sorry I was not able to create my own project My mentors assigned me projects that they felt comfortable with my abilities to complete said projects. They all started with friendly discussions that led to me asking more questions about the topics.
1 st Project I worked on at General Atomics Started with discussing Lightweight framing for Airplanes, Bikes and Cars. How to make a design lighter with than Steel What it takes to use the same stiffness of steel but making it lighter Discussed on how to use a mathematical equation to make the stiffness the same. Calculated the weight and compared the two Click below to visit my DP to view the Document containing the project: atomics-ems atomics-ems
2 nd Problem I worked on at General Atomics Learned how to code in a project called SCILAB Instructed the code to use User Input: So This Project was to find out energy usage for vehicle going any speed and of many weights such as a Bike or a car going roughly 40KM/H and finding out the resistance at that speed.
Life Outside of School: How was my work meaningful to my life? Helped me Decide what I want to study in college Also helped me plan which and what ways that I can take to get there.
Life Outside of School: How has my view on life changed? Networking: Being able to know people that can potentially help you in the future. Take small risks in life. Stay Dedicated to what you love. Energy/Power is literally everywhere: P=g*m*V1(k+s)+K2*V2^2*V1 The above equation for finding the amount of energy(Joules/Sec) required when you ride a bike while measuring chain and wind resistance.
Life Outside of School: How did Communication influence the Work Environment? If I ever needed help all I had to do was ask. Communication is key at General Atomics because everyone asks for help from you colleagues here. Its better to Communicate and ask for help instead of putting the lives of the potential customers at risk.
Evidence: Sorry, No pictures. Due to the content of the projects some numbers have been modified so I am able to present the small projects that I worked on. SCILAB: Energy Comparison Project Graphing Problem Rail Gun Conversion Problem Lightweight Frame Project
