5 Revenue Metering: Roles and Responsibilities Provides a metering installation Provides metering data to the IMO Submits physical allocation data for each RWM (if necessary) Identifies an associated MSP to the IMO Metered Market Participant (MMP) Metering Service Provider (MSP) IMO Collects metering data daily Processes metering data Issues trouble calls to MSP Maintains the metering database Responds to market participant queries Provides settlement statements derived from the metering data Registers meters Maintains metering installation Responds to trouble calls and investigates meter errors Provides edited metering data Provides correction factors where necessary

6 Types of Meters Main/CheckMain/AlternateSingle Installations consist of two revenue meters to ensure that metering data can be cross-verified All new RWMs must be main/alternate installations Data may be substituted if main meter fails Data may come from non-Measurement Canada approved meter Used only where there is an established correlation with main meter Must have separate set of instrument transformers (ITs) Existing single installations must apply for a waiver from the IMO New RWMs may not be single installations Must be replaced by main/ alternate installations upon expiry of seal (within 6 years)

7 Data Validation Main/CheckMain/AlternateSingle Compares data from 2 IMO-approved meters (main & alternate) Data from alternate meter is of revenue quality & can be substituted for main meter data without legal implications Compares data from an IMO- approved meter and another source - both record the same data with a correlation factor applied Use of check data for settlement is permitted only when main meter has failed, & under controlled conditions specified by Measurement Canada Validation relies on historical meter data for comparison purposes MSP specifies criteria for validation tests at time of registration
