We use verbs like gustar to express reactions to things: Me gusta tu prendedor: I like your pin. Gracias, y ¡ a mí me gustan tus zapatos! Thanks, and I like your shoes!

What you are REALLY saying when you use gustar is that something is enjoyable, is pleasing, or brings enjoyment to someone: Me gusta tu prendedor: To me your pin is enjoyable. Gusta is the singular form of “gustar” because “prendedor” is singular. Me gustan tus zapatos: To me your shoes are pleasing. (gustan because shoes is plural!)

Pronouns as clarifiers: a mí (Me gusta) A someone else y a mí A nosotros(as) (nos gusta) a ti (Te gusta) X a él/ a ella / a usted (Le gusta) A ellos/a ellas/ a ustedes (Les gusta)

A for emphasis This can mean “I really like” or “Well, I like” (as in comparison to what someone else likes).
