The description of the activity Wp2- T1.3.-"Structure of Learning Activity, M. Fragkaki Activity name : Education First Improving writing and speaking skills are targeted in this activity. Activity in brief : dividing students into three groups, asking them to search the Internet to get the following information in years 2000 and 2014 Group1: number of students \ # schools \ educational system in India. Group 2: number of teachers & illiterates educational system in America Group 3: number of graduates & Internet users \ educational system in Britain The idea is to promote the students to know about the condition of education in Palestine and compare it with other systems in other countries in charts then convey them into paragraphs on ppt slides. They will also be able to discuss their needs as students in Gaza and the West Bank at schools and write a letter to the Minister of Education telling her about the solutions. Moreover, the students will read their letters through the morning program and share them on their page on Facebook.

Dividing students into three groups.Students guess the letters that are in the words. If they make 4 wrong guesses, they will lose. Activity: “ what do you know about education in Palestine? ” ICT environment: Google\ Wikipedia The students work in three groups. Each group has homework to collect information about the following topics about the educational system in Palestine in 2000 & Group1: number of students \ # schools \ educational system in India. Group 2: number of teachers & illiterates educational system in America Group 3: number of graduates & Internet users \ educational system in Britain Then, the students bring the information to the classroom. Each group discusses their information. Students work in groups and discuss the reasons that make education comes first. Students write down their own opinions and suggestions.Then, the groups exchange their ideas. A student from each group visits the other groups and discuss her group’s point of view with them. Activity: “ Magic box ” ICT environment : Wordle Wp2- T1.3.-"Structure of Learning Activity, M. Fragkaki students make their own clouds of words (related to school) using wordle. Then each student writes her best word on a piece of paper and put it in the magic box that the students made. Activity: “changing information from linear into non-linear. Excel (charts )- PowerPoint- game (Monopoly) Students work in groups of three to organize their information ( statistics )about numbers of learners, schools, illiterates, Internet users, teachers and graduates in charts Then they convert the linear information of the charts into non-linear in paragraphs (using simple past and simple present) on their classmate laptops using PowerPoint prg and give presentations. wrap up : Monopoly : students pick a number using the dice and talk about the topic that it has this number. Activity: “ Palestine between developed and developing countries educationally. ICT environment: Google\ Wikipedia \ excel(charts)\ PowerPoint compare the Palestinian education with the education in India and America Sts collect information about the educational system in America and India. Then, they upload the information on their group “ 21 st C skills “ to share ideas and avoid repetition. Then they prepare presentation about each educational system on PowerPoint Students work in groups to comment on the presentations and discuss critically the educational condition in Palestine. Activity 3: “ let's interact and create?” ICT environments “Microsoft word, youtube ” Students show youtube videos about schools, students, teaching and education conditions in the West Bank and Gaza. Then the students work in two groups ( West Bank students and Gaza students) and write letters to the Minister of Education to convey their problems and need in education. Reflection- Evaluation Teachers Reflection on students knowledge 21 st c skills Conclusions: Students get self-confidence and strong characters to deliver presentations in front of their classmates and teachers. Minimizing the teacher’s talking time and maximizing the students’ talking time. Students w0rk cooperatively in teams. Students start using ICT tools in the classroom. Students get long life learning by collecting information by themselves and exchanging information with other classmates in groups. Students’ participation getting better ; 99% of the students participate in most of the activities. Propositions. Getting training on some programs such as Clip Flair. Cooperating and Exchanging activities with other teachers to perform them at schools. Preparing evaluation sheet to evaluate students work in groups. Getting a special place to show the students’ work and production. Promoting the individual work in groups. Having Internet connection at my school Reconstructions on students thoughts: students were able to gather information from the Internet and convey it into charts. Students were able to be creative ( writing letters to the Minister of Education and making a report about education in Palestine using moviemaker) Wp2- T1.3.-“English_ Learning Activity Template _M. Reflection- Evaluation Students Reflection on teaching/learning Process Student reactions and actions during activities: Students get self-confidence to sit in groups without being asked to do so. Students get upset to have a class without ICT tools, team-work or asking them go on the Internet to find information about a specific topic or entering the classroom without markers and A3 papers. Consideration of spontaneous verbal reactions of students and discussions among students: At the beginning of applying the activities, students were noisy, unorganized,and they don’t show full respect to each other. Then the Students start w0rking cooperatively in teams. They communicate at the classroom in the groups and at homes on Facebook to discuss and share ideas.
